Wise Intelligence

Every life form exists today, because it survived the evolutionary pressure over billions of years, which induced the inclination to choose actions optimizing for survival, so, life forms are good at recognizing what's good for me, but have difficulty in recognizing what's good universally. However, it seems there is a criterion to decide what is good universally -- good is to let everything exist, and bad is to destroy everything, where everything is defined as the world as a whole, as well as the world as its perspective from every no matter how small or large part of it.

Thinking about my goal of life I decided that I want my goal to be a good one, and came up with this definition of what "good" above.

Assuming that resources are finite made me narrow down the "everything" to "everything anyone truly wishes", where truly means what eventually we decide after considering it together with deeper analysis spanning all social layers of our collective cognition as life.

Being smart ≠ Being good

The term wisdom suits well to describe it, because we use it to refer to the ability and desire to optimize globally. Kids are smart, but old people are wise, and what separates them is life experience -- the scope of training set.

Artificial Wisdom

Optimizing locally ≠ Optimizing globally

definition (artificial intelligence):

An artificial optimization system capable of optimizing for arbitrary goals.

definition (artificial wisdom):

An artificial optimization system optimizing for good.

It is an important distinction:

  • A.I. - can be applied to optimize for arbitrary goal.
  • A.W. - is applied to optimize for good goal.

These days, when we create systems, we usually care about just segment of a market, just one country, or just one type of target personas. We are evil. What a wise intelligence would do, is optimize for all, and look for global optimum rather than local, and be good.

Wise intelligence would care about global risk management for all.
